(Safari Browser) How Do I Record a Video Using Safari on a Mac Desktop/Laptop Computer?

Safari on Mac desktop and laptops requires Adobe Flash to record videos, which often causes people problems.

We recommend using Chrome or Firefox to record a video on your Mac desktop or laptop.

To record a video in Safari:

Step 1 – Let the Tribute know who you are by logging in with Facebook or manually entering your name and email address alt text

Step 2 – Click Record Video alt text

Step 3 – Click the link “Adobe Flash” (in red letters) to enable Flash. If you don’t have Flash installed Safari will prompt you to install it. alt text

Step 4 – After enabling Flash, the page may refresh. You may have to repeat steps 1-2 again (sorry, not our fault, Apple refreshes the page after enabling Flash)

Step 5 – After clicking the “Record Video” button again, you’ll be asked for your permission to use Flash on tribute.co. Click the “Use Every Time” button. alt text

Step 6 – Adobe Flash may display it’s privacy settings. You need to allow access to the webcam to record your video. Click “Allow” and check the “Remember” box. Now click the “Close” button. alt text

Step 7 – Your webcam should turn on and you’ll see your face. You might say something out loud now to check your microphone settings. If your microphone is working, the microphone icon will turn green. Click the “Record” button to start recording your video. Click the “Stop” button when you’re done recording your video. alt text

Step 8 – You may have to wait a couple of minutes while we verify and process your video alt text

Step 9 – You can now preview your video by clicking the play icon (right triangle icon) in the center of the video player. IMPORTANT: Your video will not be accepted until you click the “Confirm” button. If you want to redo your video, click the “Redo” button alt text
